Steph Kokes

Stephanie Kokes is excited to return to Momentum Dance Project this year! Since she began dancing at age two, Steph has loved the artistry and beauty of dance. During her early training, she met Tara at an improvisation master class and began studying under her as a member of the Momentum Dance Project Competition Company and Project III Pre-Professional Company. At the age of 16 she was diagnosed with a disability called Spina Bifida with a pseudoarticulation of the L5-S1 joint. She was forced to take some time off of dance to learn how to navigate the world and was hopeful that she would get to return to dance again. Her teaching style focuses on empowering students to make smart decisions with their movement and learning how to advocate for themselves in all settings. Her favorite styles are Tap and Lyrical and she is thrilled to be making her choreography debut this year. Since the age of 13, Steph has been an award-winning costume designer and is excited to be joining Lynsey as Assistant Costume Coordinator. Steph is a student at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities studying Computer Science and is looking forward to graduating in May 2024.
